NewHoRRIzon (2017-2021), European Commission - Horizon 2020

Contributed as: Co-cordinator, Social Lab Manager (SL19 - EURATOM), Ethics and Data Protection Officer

Objective: Increasing acceptance and interest in responsible research and innovation

Abstract: Innovations and research constitute a highly competitive field on a global scale. Advancements in this field can drive significant economic growth, which is why Europe is committed to pursuing excellence in research and innovation in order to maintain its competitiveness in the global market.
The EU-funded NewHoRRIzon project aims to leverage Horizon 2020 to demonstrate, promote and plan the widespread adoption and growth of responsible research and innovation (RRI) across the EU and its Member States. To achieve this, the project will collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders and establish 18 social labs, along with tailor-made pilot actions, covering various sectors of Horizon 2020. These initiatives will serve as showcases for the benefits of RRI and its practical applications.

ENERI - European Network of Research Ethics and Research Integrity (2017-2019), European Commission Horizon 2020

Contributed as: Researcher

Objective: To establish a collaborative platform and workshops for stakeholder exchange, develop training and certification systems to build expertise, and create an e-Community with methodologies to monitor EU compliance—strengthening research ethics and integrity across Europe.

Abstract: Fostering ethical expertise is crucial to regain public confidence in science. ENERI seeks to strengthen integrity and ethics in science by building an integrated network of RE and RI experts. RE and RI are two sides of the same coin, namely the responsible and ethical conduct of research. While RE addresses the application of ethical principles to the different fields of study, RI refers to conducting studies in accordance with pertinent legal and professional frameworks. Hence, RE and RI jointly form the normative foundation excellent science is based on.
